drift – radiophonic composition & live performance
Shortwave fragments drift through unstable frequencies and condense into
unexpected narratives.
Between field recordings, radio cultures, noise scapes and contemporary
electronic music, an acoustic hybrid world unfolds around improvisation and
composition, listening and noise, melody and disturbance.
The focus is on the interplay and interweaving between the outcome of the shortwave ether and our instruments accordion / electric violin / electronics in a live
performance.

drift is a 52 minute radiophonic composition that explores the tension between dissonance and resonance through shortwave recordings, granular synthesis, and live instrumental performance. Field recordings of international radio, multilingual voices, fragments of music, propaganda, coded signals, static, and noise form the raw dissonant material. Rather than smoothing contradictions into harmony, the piece treats these overlapping transmissions as sonic realities: unresolved, colliding, and yet full of latent energy.
Against this backdrop, accordion, electronic violin, and electronics enter as resonant partners. Their sounds align with radio fragments, drift in counterpoint, or resonate literally with shared frequencies. Improvisation and composition intertwine to shape the oscillation between noise and listening, disturbance and melody, rupture and connection.
The result is a radiophonic piece of cinematic listening, that inhabits the in-between: a world where static becomes signal, where differences demand dialogue, and where fleeting resonances hint at the possibility of renewal.

Anja Kreysing,
Sound- and Media Artist
Münster / Germany
Anja Kreysing is a sound and media artist and composer whose practice conjures the “cinema of the mind” – immersive, acoustic worlds that unfold at the intersection of live composition, radiophonic art, and embodied listening. Working with accordion, electronics, and field recordings, she crafts real-time soundscapes and listening pieces that act as triggers for collective imagination, memory, and emotional architecture.
Fascinated by the transformative power of sound to suspend time, summon place, and evoke narrative, her work navigates the space between abstraction and storytelling. Drawing from personal geography, sensory memory, and folk-cultural remnants, her compositions invite listeners into a fluid, cinematic state of perception. These acoustic environments, whether intimate or site-responsive, ask how narrative survives abstraction, and how the poetic might inhabit the political.
Anja Kreysing has presented her work internationally, from Tunis and Djerba to Vienna, Bratislava, Turin, Genoa, and Copenhagen. In Germany, her performances and installations have been featured at Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, LAB30 Media Art Festival Augsburg, Museum Bochum, Kunsthalle Münster, Campus Zollverein Essen, and Silent Film Cinema Delphi Berlin, among others.
A Certified Deep Listening® Practitioner (Pauline Oliveros), she combines her artistic practice with teaching, collaborations, and interdisciplinary research. Anja is also curator of schwarz-weiss ist die bessere farbe, a label for performative expanded cinema with Helmut Buntjer and continues to explore the transformative potential of aesthetic practice through sound and cinematic listening.

Sascha Stadlmeier aka EMERGE
Sound Artist
Augsburg, Germany
Under his alias EMERGE, Augsburg-based artist Sascha Stadlmeier draws on the minimalist traditions of experimentalism and non-academic noise music. His selection of sound sources is usually very limited, and the original sounds themselves are only rudimentarily recognizable due to various distortions. He also frequently uses and recycles source material from various artists and musicians.
Sascha Stadlmeier has been releasing electroacoustic music with his project EMERGE on international labels such as Drone Records, Tâalem, aufabwegen and Frozen Light since 2001. A composer working at the intersections of musique concrète, drone, and noise, he has also been an increasingly active presence in the field of free improvisation since 2016. In addition to live electronics, his improvisation practice involves electric violin, and amplified objects. Collaborations with other musicians from a very wide range of styles form an important part of his work, with collaborators including If,Bwana, Doc Wör Mirran, Toy Bizarre and Ralf Wehowsky. He has been touring Europe extensively, with concerts in France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, the Baltic states, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, and Bulgaria. His music has been presented at many international festivals including Avantgarde Festival, lab30, 20 years of MGNM, Zasavje Noisefest, Ecological Sound of Varna Fest and Autistic Campaign Fest. While a prolific composer and performer, Stadlmeier has also created various sound installations and a radiophonic composition for West German Radio’s renowned Studio of Acoustic Art. Since 2010, his label attenuation circuit has established itself as an important hub in the international experimental music scene, with releases by more than 100 artists from numerous countries to date. attenuation circuit also regularly organises concerts of experimental music at Stadlmeier’s home base in Augsburg, Germany.
