I am proud to be a part of the amazing FLOWproject with „segment 19 – FLUME“, a composition with the resonances of a fish-pass at the Lech for tube, accordion and sine-tone.
Flow is presented actually at the EGU general assembly in Vienna, the biggest geoscience conference in Europe.
Flow combines science, sound, and imagery to bring to life the story of the river Lech, which flows through Austria and Germany, as an example representing all rivers, all over the world.
Researchers at the University of Padua and the University of Würzburg collected satellite images, research, photography and field recordings from the entire length of the river, and asked artists to reimagine the life of the river through sound.
Working with the University of Padova and the University of Würzburg, Flow tells the story of a river through sound, from its source to its end. Flow is hosted by the famous „Cities and memory“, the british soundart project around field recordings, memories and the sound of places allover planet earth.

„Anja Kreysing is a musician and researcher based in Münster, Germany. Her work moves between experimental music, sound art, and acoustic ecology, with a particular interest in how constructed and natural environments shape each other through sound.
For Flow, she worked on Segment 19 of the River Lech — a channelised, heavily regulated stretch near Sheuring, where dams and reservoirs for hydropower production have left the river, in the scientists’ words, “widely lacking natural geomorphic dynamics.” There are no restoration plans for this segment.
But Anja found a fish passage. A modest, largely unremarkable structure — a channel carved into concrete, built under a road — designed to recreate, as faithfully as possible, conditions natural enough for fish to navigate past a dam. When she recorded inside it, she found the water produced a very particular resonance: a narrow, unstable microtonal field sitting between the pitches A and B-flat.
That resonance became the starting point for everything.“
Segment 19 – FLUME investigates the acoustic behaviour of a regulated river segment through a post-cinematic compositional approach. The piece originates from a field recording made inside the concrete tube of a fish pass, where water striking the walls produces a narrow resonance between A and B♭. This unstable microtonal field becomes the structural centre of the work. Granular and spectral processes, sine tones, and slowly drifting accordion drones performed on two slightly detuned instruments reorganise the recording into an evolving acoustic space. Rather than depicting the site, the composition amplifies its latent resonances, pressure, and spatial constraints.

„drift” – eine akustische Hybridwelt In der Radioarbeit „drift“ des Duos Kreysing/EMERGE treiben Kurzwellenfragmente durch instabile Frequenzen und verdichten sich zu unerwarteten Narrativen. Zwischen Field-Recordings, Radiokulturen, Noisescapes und zeitgenössischer elektronischer Musik entfaltet sich eine akustische Hybridwelt um Improvisation und Komposition, Lauschen und Rauschen, Melodie und Störung. Radio free FM überträgt live von vor Ort die hybride Uraufführung im Rahmen einer Sondersendung von entartet von 20 bis 23 Uhr. Radiokonzert kreysing/EMERGE 21:00 Eintritt frei.

So kündigte Radio free FM in der „RR Reihe Radiostücke“ den Abend des Duos Kreysing/Emerge im Stadthaus so an: „Kurzwellenfragmente treiben durch instabile Frequenzen und verdichten sich zu unerwarteten Narrativen. Live, uncut sessions between abstract coastlines and scorched resonance. Anja Kreysing and Stefan Strasser created two real-time compositions blending elements of analog noise, jazz, folktronics and cinematic atmospheres.
The two tracks, “Cartesian Coordinates” and “Meridian Collapse”, were recorded live in two sessions without edits. The result is a sonic topography of imaginary coastlines, collapsing grids and scorched resonance. Abstract, surreal and deeply expressive.

The idea for this album came up back in 2022, while the three artists – each working in a special multimedia way – were producing a 20-minute track in this line-up for a (soon to be released) album in the r. i. e. series on the attenuation circuit label from Augsburg in Germany. Despite the physical distance, the work worked perfectly and so they wanted to continue. The present recordings are the result of many different intermediate mixes with many different focal points, which the respective musicians applied and which were finally put together by Anja Kreysing to create the intense and atmospherically dense sound experience that is now offered to the listener.

Klanginstallation „everyday sounds“ vom 19. April bis 12. Mai im Krameramtshaus / Studierendenprojekt ist Teil des Programms POETRY
Münster (SMS) Wie klingt Münster? Die Klanginstallation „everyday sounds“ lädt vom 19. April bis 12. Mai dazu ein, die unverwechselbaren alltäglichen Klänge Münsters auf neue Weise zu erleben. Auf Einladung des städtischen Kulturamtes haben die Klang- und Medienkünstlerin Anja Kreysing, die Literaturwissenschaftlerin Prof. Britta Herrmann und eine Gruppe Studierender der Universität Münster das Klangbild der Stadt erforscht. Nun präsentieren sie die Ergebnisse in einer Klanginstallation im Haus der Niederlande im Krameramtshaus.
Sechs Studierende des Germanistischen Instituts haben in einem Workshop Töne und Geräusche Münsters erkundet. Sie haben literaturwissenschaftliche Theorie und künstlerische Feldforschung verzahnt und sind der Frage nachgegangen, wie Münsters Alltag klingt. Unter Leitung von Britta Herrmann und Anja Kreysing haben sie aus fieldrecordings (engl. Feldaufnahmen) und Werken internationaler Gäste des Lyriktreffens Münster Klanglandschaften geschaffen.
Der Workshop und die Installation sind Teil der Veranstaltungsreihe POETRY, die noch bis zum 12. Mai im Vorfeld des Lyriktreffens Münster (10. bis 13. Mai) stattfindet. Ein Begleitprogramm während des Lyriktreffens bietet weitere Einblicke in die Arbeit der Studierenden.
Bürgermeister Klaus Rosenau eröffnet die Ausstellung im Krameramtshaus am Donnerstag, 18. April, um 18 Uhr. Die Studentinnen Miriam Feldmann und Julia Rosin geben eine Einführung in die Klanginstallation. Anja Kreysing, Musiker Helmut Buntjer und Autor Andreas Weber stimmen mit einem musikalisch-poetischen Beitrag auf die Installation ein. Die Ausstellung ist montags bis freitags von 12 bis 18 Uhr sowie samstags, sonntags und feiertags von 10 bis 16 Uhr geöffnet. Der Eintritt ist frei.
