Bruital Voyage. Anja Kreysing & Stefan Strasser, release on attenuation circuit

Out now on attenuation circuit! Bruital Voyage

A single uninterrupted transmission from bruitkasten @ Ebertplatz Cologne during a concert in September 2025.

Anja Kreysing (accordion & electronics) and Stefan Strasser (guitar & electronics) navigate dense sonic geographies of abstract texture and harmonic traces, where signals erode, tonal fragments emerge and disappear, and noise moves like weather across concrete structures.

This soundtrack is shaped through realtime compositional interaction rooted in radical listening. Cinematic in scope and associative in form, the music of Stefan and Anja unfolds like an acoustic film without images – a voyage through unstable sonic landscapes that trigger a vivid cinema of the mind.

ORTentvined, quadrophonic fixed-media composition for LJUDBIO XI quadrophonic festival, Uppsala, Sweden

ORTentvined

ORTentvined is originally a quadrophonic fixed-media composition developed from recordings made at a former Nazi-era military complex, the ORT. This is a careful stereo-mixdown of the composition.

The work constructs an acoustic architecture from entirely site-derived materials: brittle footsteps through overgrown blackberry vines, resonances of abandoned wooden and concrete floors, metallic fragments of domestic debris, and the shifting pressure of the surrounding landscape – the piece develops a spatialized aural architecture grounded in forensic listening. Through granular micro-processing and controlled diffusion techniques, these materials are transformed while retaining their latent physical and historical identities.

The composition unfolds across a seven-minute spatial trajectory in which exterior and interior sound zones gradually intersect and contaminate one another. Vines appear unexpectedly inside the spatial field, concrete resonances drift toward the front, and domestic shards punctuate the quadrophonic plane. A sustained electric-guitar drone plus a short accordion-shiver operates not as a musical gesture but as structural pressure, articulating the latent tensions embedded in the site.

Rather than reconstructing historical events, ORTentwined treats the location as an active acoustic witness. Its surfaces, materials, and resonant cavities reveal traces of the architecture’s past through sound alone. The listener encounters a sequence of tectonic shifts in density, texture, and spatial orientation. These shifts foreground listening as a method for approaching contested spaces and ecologies marked by abandonment, overgrowth, and unresolved historical presence.

ORTentvined positions sound as a primary mode of spatial and historical inquiry. It belongs to a contemporary lineage of post-cinematic, site-responsive sound works that privilege raw materiality, perceptual attention, and the unstable boundaries between ecology, architecture, and memory.

ORT entvined was premiered at 7th December 2025 in Uppsala, Sweden at LJUDBIO XI quadrophonia festival, SLOTTSBIOGRAFEN by Girilal Baars http://www.slottsbio.se/ljudbio/om_kompositorerna/om_ljudbioXI/

Thanks for having me with ORTentvined!

ANGEL — WOVEN BY WATER
Videoinstallation with live audio interventions
9 min. loop

„ANGEL converts the old facade of the mausoleum of Sidi El Zitouni at the Traditional Heritage Museum Djerba into a projection surface, while transforming the palm garden in front of it into a performative resonance space. With its light and sound staging, it actively intervenes in the architectural and landscape situation, creating a hybrid place between historical architecture, public space and artistic experiment.

With ANGEL, Anja Kreysing has created a site-specific video essay that moves experimentally between documentary observation and artistic manipulation. Real video footage of the river „Angel“ in Muensterland (de) merges with handdrawn elements and digitally manipulated sequences, creating an interplay of organic image material and colourful, abstract overlays. Water movements, reflections and colour changes of the Angel form the visual basis for the constantly transforming image sequences.
This 9-minute video essay is complemented by live audio interventions, which are composed of manipulated field recordings, synthetic sounds, looped fragments and live improvised accordion interventions by Anja Kreysing. The result is a soundscape that not only accompanies the video essay but also merges atmospherically with it.

ANGEL actively changes the space. The old facade is no longer a mere wall, but becomes a dynamic, almost organically behaving surface. This is supported by the sound performance, which transforms the palm garden into a space in which sound and image merge and interact with the bodies present. Kreysing therefore builds on the concept of expanded cinema, which goes beyond the boundaries of classic cinema while it combines image, sound and space to create a multi-layered experience.

In the work, the river Angel is not understood as a landscape or geographical feature, but as an independent, living being. Its organic, constantly transforming existence is reflected in the flowing transitions between image and sound. At the same time, reference is made to questions of perception, transformation and artistic translation of nature. ANGEL makes visible that nature is not a static background, but in its changeability an active counterpart that both reflects and challenges dialogue. „

Live, uncut sessions between abstract coastlines and scorched resonance. Anja Kreysing and Stefan Strasser created two real-time compositions blending elements of analog noise, jazz, folktronics and cinematic atmospheres.

The two tracks, “Cartesian Coordinates” and “Meridian Collapse”, were recorded live in two sessions without edits. The result is a sonic topography of imaginary coastlines, collapsing grids and scorched resonance. Abstract, surreal and deeply expressive.

Thanks so much to Submarine Broadcasting Company for hosting this!

Award for culture of remembrance: Verleihung des Dr. Julius Voos Preises

Interview with Sarah Belle Reid about my work

„How video artist Anja K. uses deep listening, modular synths, and sound design to expand her creative practice

If you ever struggle with having TOO many creative interests, and worry that you’re moving in too many directions at once, this interview is for you. 👇

I recently had a great conversation with my LSS student @anja_kreysing – all about her creative practice combining video, sound art, installations, modular synths, and experimental sound.

We got deep into topics like:

– The balance between bringing all of yourself into your work and staying focused on what matters most

– The power of expansion & embracing what you DON’T know

– Combining interests across art forms and genres „

After that I got a kind invitation by Sarah Belle Reid for a statement about creative work with imperfect action! My love for directed chaos generated this short clip. Enjoy!
